Grief/Mourning book group: “Working through grief after losing a loved one to suicide”

Book: Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s book – Understanding your Grief will be provided free of charge

Details: Each participant will receive Dr. Wolfelt’s book – Understanding your Grief. This class will focus on Chapter 6 – Understanding the Six Needs of Mourning. This is an intense, grief-focused work group.
Week One – Introductions/The Yield Sign Exercise/Ground Rules – Hand-out books – assign reading of Chapter 6
Week Two – Discussion of Acknowledging the reality of the death & embracing the pain of the loss
Week Three – Discussion of Remembering the person who died & Developing a New Self-identity
Week Four – Discussion of Searching for meaning and Receiving ongoing support from others.
**Possible Week Five: Gathering for a little “pot-luck” and a closing on “Reconciling your Grief”. TBD
Please plan to attend all four weeks if possible. The book and class time provides a progressive healing journey. If you know you cannot attend all four sessions, we encourage you to wait and sign-up for the next class in late fall/early winter 2018.
