Alternatives to Suicide is a peer support practice for voicing, sitting with, understanding, and moving through suicidal thoughts. The primary focus is mutual connection and relationships. While one outcome may be suicide prevention, the parameters of these groups are distinctly different from other suicide prevention efforts. Differences are most evident in our emphasis on responsibility to, and not for, or over an individual. We are responsible for being open-minded, honest, and present with one another, but cannot be responsible for one another’s choices or actions.
The group meets at Iris Place, 1213 S Matthias St, Appleton, the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month from 6-7:30pm. Anyone is welcome.
